(Recordings are made available to clients, and used for quality control but not shared with anyone else.)
How it works
-
Send your First Time Story outline.
You'll need to send this prior to your appointment, directly to your FTS coach or via Google Forms. -
Pre-call guidance from your FTS Coach
At the start of the Zoom call, your coach will highlight the top-level information about your story and invite you to start sharing your story. -
Storytelling to your FTS Coach
Your FTS Coach will actively listen to your story as a member of your audience (according to your outline) and ask questions if and when appropriate. These lead to engagement and highlight where you could add more information. -
Feedback by your FTS Coach
At the conclusion of your story, your FTS Coach will provide you some verbal feedback before the session ends. Within 24 hours, you’ll also receive written feedback on your story. Feedback on the plot, setting, characters, your storytelling skills (facial expression, gestures, use of voice), and what they learned about you from your story. -
Rewatch your recording to improve
You will have access to the recording of your story and your coach feedback for 30 days (We recommend downloading your files immediately. The recording and notes will be deleted after 30 days).
Purchase your package and then you’ll receive an email to schedule your session(s) with the FTS Coach of your choice.
If you need more sessions and want a customized FTS Coaching Package contact us. Also check-out the Archive Your Life packages!
Here are some common Q&As about FTS Coaching:
What do you mean “send your FTS Coach your first time story outline”?
These are the outlines found in Part III of the How to Become a (First Time) Storyteller Book which help you think about and outline all the components and requirements for your first time story. We don’t recommend booking a session unless you have read the book and/or have completed the course.
Should I always tell a different story in my sessions?
That’s entirely up to you and will depend on whether or not you’re struggling with a story or you really want to be extra comfortable sharing a particular story. You have the option to tell the same story, to the same FTS Coach. Tell the same story to different FTS Coaches. Or tell a new and different story in each of your sessions to the same FTS Coach or different Coaches.
Should I always tell my stories to the same FTS Coach?
Again, the answer is it depends. If the stories you are creating for your repertoire are primarily for you to share with family and friends (people who know you) then we recommend you tell your story to one specific FTS Coach so that he or she can really get to know you and better match the audience that is your family and friends.
If you are creating a repertoire of stories you want to easily be able to share on dates, at networking events, and with strangers then we recommend selecting a different FTS Coach for each of your stories.
You have the freedom to mix and match!
What if I can’t make my scheduled session?
You can cancel and reschedule sessions up until 12 Hours BEFORE the time of the initial planned session. A session cannot be canceled or rescheduled within the 12 hour window.
If you have a session scheduled and have a last minute emergency (within the 12 hour window) you can TRANSFER your session to someone else. Simply provide someone else the Zoom link for your session and the FST Coach will adapt accordingly. (Only exception for not having a first time story outline)
How do I find the recording and notes of my session(s) with my coach(es)?
Your FTS Coach will send you the link to your recording(s) and their notes within 24 hours of completing your session.
